Farnham Castle International Briefing & Conference Centre
Castle Street
Farnham
Surrey GU9 0AG
United Kingdom
This is preliminary general travel advice, more detailed information will be posted, when available.
By Taxi
We think that the best way for people to reach Farnham Castle from either Heathrow or Gatwick airports (Stanstead or Luton airports are too far away) is by taxi. We will book taxis for attendees. If you plan to come by taxi, please send a mail to Karen Arthur (k.arthur@surrey.ac.uk). We will try to group people together to reduce the cost to them. The taxi will cost about £70 per car, depending on the time of travel.
By Car
Approaching from Guildford (A31) arriving at the ‘Shepherd & Flock’ roundabout follow directions to Central Farnham. At traffic lights (next to Fire Station), follow road and enter one way system to left past Leisure Centre and left again (see map in PDF). At traffic lights turn left into South Street & then first available right into Union Road. Follow one-way system straight on (past Police Station on left hand side) and turn right into Downing Street. At T-junction turn right into The Borough (main street in town centre) and first left into Castle Street (which becomes Castle Hill). The entrance to the Castle is 400 metres up on the right hand side.
By Rail
South West trains leave London Waterloo Station twice an hour and take about one hour to reach Farnham.
From Airports
Heathrow Airport: There is a Rail-link Coach Service to Woking Railway Station with a train service from there direct to Farnham. Taxis are normally available at the station and journey time to the castle is approximately 5 minutes.
Gatwick Airport: There is a train service to Victoria Station in London. It is then necessary to transfer to London Waterloo Station.
We will arrange rooms in the castle or nearby for the delegates to stay in. Please contact Karen Arthur for this (k.arthur@surrey.ac.uk). The cost (including all meals from Wednesday lunch time to Friday lunch time inclusive) will be £272, payable to us on arrival by cash or credit card (not Amercian Express). If anyone needs accommodation on the Friday night, This is also ok.
