The Institute of Applied Microtechnologies (IMA-Arc) at University of Applied Sciences (Haute Ecole Arc Ingénierie) situated in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, is seeking a senior research position (group leader) in the area of ion beam surface modification/ion beam analysis. This position is aimed at reinforcing the research activities of the institute in the area of microtechnology, surface modification and surface analysis.
We are seeking a candidate of international stature (Ph.D) interested in leading an applied research and playing a critical role in the scientific direction of our ion beam group. Applications are encouraged from outstanding senior-level scientists in a field of ion beam/particle physics/surface science/ microtechnology.

The mission of the chair and its objectives are:
• To assume the scientific leadership of the research team,
• To develop novel ion beam fabrication technologies at the micro- and nanoscale that benefit industrial applications,
• To develop collaboration and coordinate strategy between applied research and the private sector,
• To set-up the national and international projects with academic and industrial partners,
• To provide scientific and technology support to partners and clients,
• The administrative responsibilities include recruitment, development, evaluation, promotion and retention; finance and budget; strategic planning and program development; and resource allocation, including laboratory space.
The successful candidate will be expected to initiate independent research program with strong industrial impact.
The candidate has to demonstrate an internationally recognized fundamental research in the field ion beam/particle physics/surface science/ microtechnology, an applied research program aimed at innovative developments in the above-mentioned fields, and strong entrepreneurial attitude and interpersonal skills.
